F. Scott Kimmich

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Scott’s father, Jack Kimmich, worked his way through college and medical school “F.” stands for Ferdinand, the first name of the urologist who relieved his mother, Renée, of a painful kidney stone. Born in Provence, she grew up reciting the works of Frederick Mistral, who did so much to re-establish Occitan as a living language. She was also an avid reader of Sir Walter Scott, and gave his name to her infant son, whom she dubbed "Scotty."  Scotty passed on lore about the Albigensian Crusade to his children, who then badgered him, “when are you going to write the book, Dad?” ‘Twas those little devils who made him do it.

Scott is retired and lives in Norwalk, Connecticut with his wife Kate.
